The Reserve Bank of India has introduced new guidelines for digital payments to enhance security and customer protection.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced new rules for digital payments, aiming to enhance the security and protection of customers. The guidelines include the implementation of an additional factor of authentication for transactions above ₹5,000, and the introduction of a 24/7 helpline for customers to report any suspicious transactions. The new rules will come into effect from September 1, 2026. The RBI has also directed banks and payment system operators to ensure that customers are aware of these changes and are provided with necessary assistance. This move is expected to reduce the risk of digital payment fraud and enhance customer trust in digital transactions.
